Parenting advice: Instill Kindness, Compassion and Values In Children

“Being considerate of others will take your children further in life than any college degree.”
- Marian Wright Edelman.

Parenting advice: Kindness starts at home
In today's chaotic, turbulent and violent times, cultivating kindness and compassion in children is one of the most difficult tasks for parents. Especially nowadays when we are bombarded with news of violence and terrorism – it makes it all the more necessary to develop compassion and kindness among children and make this world a better place.

Kindness starts at home. If we don't provide a healthy environment to our children, how can we expect that our children will grow up to be compassionate people? If children keep seeing their parents cribbing, screaming and fighting with each other, what will they learn?

The primary responsibility of instilling the values of kindness, compassion and sensitivity towards others in children lies with the parents. Parenting children means much more than providing food, shelter and protection. Schools and teachers also have a significant role to play in the overall child development, but value education essentially begins at home.

Develop humane and universal values

To help your child develop the humane and universal values of love, sharing, kindness, compassion, helpful attitude and respectful nature, you must learn to be careful and alert about your own behavior, not only with your child but also in the presence of your child. Parents must set examples of good behavior for their children themselves.

Parenting advice: Encourage your child to
participate in positive activities
Encourage your child and engage yourself in activities that encourage and manifest positive energies such as donating to a charity, helping your friends and neighbors, keeping in regular touch with family and relatives and being a good citizen. When your child sees you helping others, he/she too will develop the inclination to help others.

Teach children to treat even their toys with care. Don't allow kids to throw books or toys. Rather encourage them early in their childhood to handle toys or books with respect. Also, help your child learn to appreciate the good things of life such as appreciating the efforts their teachers make so that they are able to study and learn and appreciate the love they receive from their friends and family.

Discourage abusive behavior

And discourage your child if you see him/her using abusive language or disrespecting other cultures or languages. It is your duty as parents to explain to your children gently how their actions can hurt the other person's feelings. You must encourage the feeling of co-existence and acceptance among your children.

Make sure that your children don't watch cartoons, programs, movies or play video games that are excessively violent in nature. Constant exposure to visuals and images that speak of destruction can have a bad effect on the young minds.

Motivate your child

Expose your children to things which generate the feeling of compassion and kindness among children. Narrate to them good stories that celebrate morals and values and tell them about great personalities who have changed the world for the better and let them learn to differentiate between the good and the bad. Encourage your child to watch motivational videos that talk directly to the child in a simple, effective and inspiring manner which the young mind understands easily.
A great parenting tip is to motivate your child
to try his/her hand at writing inspirational messages

A great parenting tip is to motivate your child to try his/her hand at writing inspirational messages – it is a great way of encouraging positive energies in your child and making him/her learn to nurture dreams and goals.

You can also watch motivational videos with your children that can have a really positive effect on the young children of 3 to 10 years old. These motivational videos inspire children to be kind, caring, and considerate about the feelings of other people and of animals too.

Parenting children can be overwhelming at times and these inspirational quotes videos offer useful parenting tips and parenting help that let you enjoy stress free parenting. Let the inspirational quotes and motivational videos help you to launch meaningful conversation with your child so that you can take the opportunity to instill the life wisdom and values of kindness and compassion in your children.

Know How To Handle A Stubborn Child

Being a parent is not easy and especially when your child is stubborn, parenting children really gets very challenging Every child shows stubborn behavior at some point or the other. However some children are more stubborn than others. Generally children act stubborn either to get attention or because of some fear or may be some resistance to change.

Whatever the cause, here are a few tips for parents which will help you understand your children well and handle their stubbornness smartly and responsibly:

An essential parenting tip - handle a stubborn child sensitively
Communication
No matter, how busy you are in your work, take some out to talk with your child daily. Discuss  the kind of work you do and listen to the stories you child has to say about his school, teachers, classmates and so on. Maintaining a good communication will help build a strong bond between both of you.

Stay calm
As a parent, it is your duty to act responsibly when your child is acting stubborn. Don't yell or get angry. Shouting will only aggravate the stubborn behavior in  your child. Instead talk with your child and put forward your point of view. But before that listen to what your child has to say. This way he/she won't feel that you are his/her enemy. Instead it would instill confidence in him/her that his/her demands are heard and considered.

Set an example
Being parents you have to set an example before your children. After all, children intentionally or unintentionally pick up a lot of habits from their parents only. If you don't want your child to act stubbornly, then you too have to be flexible. For instance, if you want your child to go to bed in the middle of the time when he is watching TV, don't act stubbornly. Instead let him know that he must go his bed immediately after the show is over. The point is the more stubborn you behave, the more your child will resist. Don't force your child to accept your rules. This will only instill fear in your child. Rather be gentle and calm.

Give respect
You have to maintain a fine balance between being firm and respectful. In order to get respect from your children, treat them respectfully too. If you have the notion that they are just kids and don't deserve respect, then you absolutely wrong. You can instill the value of giving respect by showing respect to your own children. Listen to them when they speak and be kind and gentle. And remember to appreciate your children whenever they behave well.

Watch a motivational video
You can also watch a motivational video with your children which will inspire children to behave well and instill the essential values of life. Besides inspirational quotes messages also offer some great parenting tips on dealing with behavior problems of children and advice on maintaining a happy, peaceful and wonderful parent-child relationship. In case you are having difficulty to initiate a conversation with your child and make him/her understand your point of view, take the help of a motivational video which can work as a great launching pad for a conversation with your child.

How You Can Make Your Child Find Homework Fun

Is your child getting bad grades? Are you finding it tough to get homework done from your children of 3 to 10 years ? These are the common problems which parents usually face. Many a times, parents resort to scolding or punishing their children to get them complete the homework. Shouting, screaming or scolding children never works. Instead it makes children even more stubborn. Here are a few tips that will help you make your children realize the importance of school, studies and complete homework:

Spend quality time with your child to enhance his child development
Fixed schedule for homework
Set up a fixed scheduled time every day for homework. But remember, a schedule that works in one family may not work in another. For instance, one child may work best in the afternoon while the other might prefer to work in the evening after an afternoon nap. Figure out what works best for your child and family and then set a regular time for homework.

Quiet place to study
Create an environment in the study room which is quiet and has sufficient light. Besides the room must be devoid of any distractions that means no TV, music system or anything which can distract the child. This will help your child to develop concentration and focus completely on homework.

Stay in touch with your child's teachers
As a parent, it is very important that you regularly communicate with the school teacher of your child. This is the best way to know how your child is behaving in class, interacting with other children, responding to the classwork and activities and so on. Make it a point to attend all the parents-teacher meetings in the school which will help you stay updated on your child's development.

Be a role model
Children pick up lots of habits by watching their parents. Hence set a good example before your children by reading and writing yourself. Share with your children about the work you do or any book you are reading. And involve him or her in extracurricular activities which give the child valuable exposure such as a visit to the museum or zoo, narrating a story, going to the library, playing educational games, dabbling in art and craft and so on.

Watch a motivational video
Apart from all this, watch a motivational video with your children of 3 to 10 year. These inspirational quotes and videos offer practical parenting tips and guide you on how to make children do their homework and how to tackle behavioral problems in them.

Besides these motivational video messages are equally beneficial for children of 3 to 10 years. These beautiful and highly inspiring videos contain meaningful messages of life wisdom which will not only convey to your children about the benefits of doing studying but also inspire them towards putting in their best efforts for achieving their goals and dreams. Therefore make it your habit to daily watch a motivational video with your child which help you in parenting children as well as assist you in child development.
